●Feedback from lecture

There was a lot of words that I should understand and use. It made me confused, but I just aware that it is important for me to design with thinking about it in order to express what I want to say or something. Focusing it, I will be able to create better I supposed. To add, I noticed the difference between "movement" and "rhythm". For that, I thought that it is a little difficult to understand a delicate nuance of principle design.

●Visual search (about emphasis and balance)

"Emphasis"  is created by visually reinforcing something we want the viewer to pay attention to. This is often used to train the viewer’s eyes on the center of interest, or a focal point – the area of interest the viewer’s eye naturally, instinctively skips to. Some of the strategies employed to create degrees of importance are contrast of values, use of color, placement, variation, alignment, isolation, convergence, anomaly, proximity, size, and contrast.

These examples of design are uncomplicated with simple shape and color. For the left one, can see light blue sky and water  that is why there is organized with the shape of green umbrella and one of them is upside down with light blue, water.  And for the right one is just used white and black color, but there is difference of size of circle. The difference show emphasis because  the small circle is surrounded by the space make conspicuous.

"Balance"  is the distribution of interest or visual weight in a work. A balanced work will have all the elements arranged such that the work will have a sense of visual equilibrium or stability. Balance can be symmetrical, asymmetrical, or radial. Objects, values, colors, textures, shapes, etc. can be used in creating balance in a composition.

These are the examples of design, "balance" that I'm interested.  The above picture shows symmetrical with same shape. And the picture below shows asymmetrical.

●Idea exploration(for emphasis)

So I tried to do exercise thinking about emphasis. For these are examples from Pinterest.

Then I ready to use a black pen and color pencils and sketch the idea. Also it is first time for me to draw dinosaur, so I tried with example from Pinterest.

●Final design

So this is my design for emphasis. I tried focus on the contrast of color and balance of composition. For this my idea shows that a girl is trying to be strong like dinosaur. Actually, I tried it when I was little. A girl is just colored the black express the real life, and then the dinosaur in the puddle is colored a lot shows dream of her.

●Idea exploration(for balance)

From these examples from Pinterest, I compose only the shape of circle and random to put it on.

This is the sketch for this exercise, balance. I used six colors. First I draw circle using PET bottle cap. Then I draw like this. This work took time, but I enjoyed it.

●Final design

So it just takes time to draw this design. I could draw this such as fireworks. For this exercise, I could know it is different emotions by color.

●Brief reflection

I could learn how to compose elements to show stability of design in this exercise. Especially, "balance" is a little difficult to understand for me, but it is really important to create something I thought. I supposed that I should learn the basic of design more and more in order to be designer with good balance of design in the future.
