Design Principles Week 5 : Symbol - Image and Word

●Feedback from lecture
  I notice that the symbol design is really variety and meaning. The symbol design are used for companies such as informing the details of them. It shape clearly and directly I think, that is interesting tool to design. I just wonder I'll be able to create for my artwork.

●Visual search (about Symbol)

 There are example for Symbol design. For the left one, it shows Japanese objects which made us impressed like emotional. So "Yuragi" means fluctuation, but also means it. The symbol shows like that, the objects can express some emotion or something. And for the middle one, the shapes shows variety of that. I think it is same meaning to left one. It is change by how to shape. For the right one, these are famous logo of company. It is also shows symbol. Symbol is used logo for show clearly and directly or something like poster of protecting. These should be simple design but it is difficult to express meaning of them I thought.

●Visual search (about Image and Word)

 These are poster with image and letters. It usually seemed at poster. As you can see, it is composed with image and letter. It is used to inform the detail of them.

●Idea exploration(for symbol)

 So for this exercise, I tried to think about the my name logo for my artwork. I started to sketch, then drawn in Illustrator also. 

●Idea exploration(for composing with Image and word)

 I wanted to use my cats images for this task, so I took them pictures and tried to compose with letter.

●Final design

 I tried to compose "Sea" in one shape, symbol. The letter of "e" and "a" is putting on the letter of "S". Also I tried to express more cutely without sharp. And for the design for composing with image and word, I just put my favorite things like cats and mood of hippy. I thought it is difficult to adjust color tone between image and back ground. 

●Brief reflection for this week

 I just felt tired of a lot of work I have to do with not only this class, but also I enjoy learning and creating in this class. I really like this class because I can learn basic of design and explore in my way. Also Dr Charles is really kind of feedback our artwork and clearly. When I'm not in good motivation, I just do this task and refresh of it..... Anyway I really enjoy learning in this class!
