30/04/2021 - 11/05/2021 / Week 5 - Week 7
Typography GCD60104
I focused on the headline formatting to express sentence meanings. It was just rough sketches, so it was needed to show the meaning more and directly.
From these inspirations, I tried to create the headline.
Also, I tried to show following the code with using the shape more
longer like this.

●Lectures
Week 6 :
We were divided to group to discuss about our design with questions.
1. Do the expressions match the meaning of the words?
2. Are the expression well crafted (crafting/lines/shapes)?
1. Is kerning and tracking appropriately done?
2. Does the font size correspond to the line-length, leading & paragraph spacing
3. Is the alignment choice conducive to reading?
4. Has the ragging been controlled well?
5. Has cross-alignment been established using base-line grids?
6. Are widows and orphans present?
Week 7 :
It was short class for getting advices for task 2 and checking the progress.
●Lectures(Prerecorded lectures on YouTube)
Figure 1.1 Typography Task 2 Progress Demo video
For this lecture, Mr Vinod teach us what we have to do in this task2
with inDesign and Illustrator. So I trough this prerecorded lecture to
create the task.
●Instructions
We have to
create a 2-page editorial spread (200 x 200) without some images and color
in this task. Also, we are allowed to use InDesign for text

General feedback:
Non feedback (actually, I have to create it in the rule)
Specific feedback:
I should think about relation between point size and leading. Also, I have to understand what is good cross alignment.

●Reflections
>Experience
This experience is really good for me to understand text formatting enough such as what is relation between point size and leading of text. Actually, I felt really hard task this time, but there are a lot of things I didn't know, so it was important experience I think.
>Observations
Especially, I felt it is difficult for me to think about a layout that is why it wasted time to arrange and create layout with focusing good composing, stable structure.
>Findings
For this task, I could notice how importance the kerning of text. It shows good to see by the good space between letters.

Figure 1.16 about alignment (9/5/2021)
Our eyes require contrast to read. Paragraphs have such a bold contrast, and when you mess with the contrast, the reader’s mind will notice, and deem it boring and complicated. Actually, left align ALWAYS best. Center for quotes, and Right alignment might as well be left alone.
Figure 1.17 good text formatting (9/5/2021)
Paragraphs are an essential element of running text. They divide the content into logical, digestible bits, organizing the information, which in turn helps keep the reader engaged. Several ways of formatting paragraphs are widely used. While all function to provide a visual separation, each treatment works slightly differently to emphasize, solidify, and enhance the layout and overall goals of the design.
