●Lectures
Week 09(27/05/2022) :
For this week lecture, we got brief for task 3. So for this task, we can
research the topic with we're interested in. It is the task we need to
clarify the issue of type and design in the area, specialization
(Graphic Design, UI/UX, Animation, Entertainment Design or any other) or we
can explore the typeface which we're interested in as well. Finally we
should create it with in application such as animation, 3d, print, ambient, projection, movie title or game title, use of different material etc.
Week 10(03/06/2022) :
In this session, we shared own ideas for task 3 and got advices from Mr Vinod. This is why we didn't have some lecture. But also, I got inspiration for task 3 in this time as well.
Week 11(13/06/2022) :
For this week, we got some feedback for this final project and discussed how to improve it as well. No lecture in this week.
Week 12-14(17/06/2022–01/07/2022) :
We discussed how to improve our design for final task in these lecture.
●Exercise
– Visual research
The first week for task 3 (03/06/2022), I tried to confirm my idea for this task, type exploration and application. I got 3 ideas to explore and improve typeface from my design and interesting stuff. One of my ideas is for my curious typeface in another language, and the other idea is for exploring the font which I designed before in the Typography module.
1.1 The proposal for task3 idea in Week 10 (30/05/2022)
After the lecture, I decided to go with the idea #5.
– Idea Exploration
So for this task, I tried to create candle. It's also first time for me to make candle so it's really hard for me to do it, but I just had fun. As for preparing, I tried to broke it smaller to melt them quickly. I tried to make mold as well to express it natural. It took me a lots time though....
2.1 The process of preparing for this task(05/06/2022)
2.2 The process of preparing for this task(05/06/2022)
After I finish them, I tried to add string for candle with molding. It was kind of difficult that is why I just had mistake as well.... I just realized that it can't burn without the string which is for candle after I finish it. Therefore it didn't burn and melt that is why I mean that I've messed up with this..... Here is the process of making the alphabet candles.
2.3 The process of preparing for string of candle(08/06/2022)
2.4 The process of preparing for string of candle(08/06/2022)
2.5 The candle which is added more(08/06/2022)
2.6 The process of making candle(08/06/2022)
2.8 The first outcome(08/06/2022)
2.9 The first outcome(08/06/2022)
So after I created this candles, I just felt not satisfied it because I couldn't express melting which I expected. So I decided to created the melting letter with another materials. To be changed from candle to foam spray. So I decided to go with idea #4 as well. I can't finish this task without I satisfied with my art style.....
For Visual research, I got inspiration from these images which I picked from Pinterest.
Also I learned how to use the foam spray in YouTube as well.

After I got inspiration and learned how to use foam spray, I bought it then created.
This is what I bought for this project, it costs RM65 though.... It's white color and quick to dry as well, I guess.

– Application
After I got feedback in week13 lecture, I tried to made the poster design for river pollution issues with mock-up. For this application task, I tried to create tote bag, small paper pouch and flag in beach to use this design in order to tell the issues to people.

●Feedback
Week 10 :
General feedback:
For this week, we shared own ideas for task3 and got advises from Mr Vinod. I could enjoy seeing kinds of ideas which was that I couldn't expect and I got some inspiration for doing task3 as well.
Specific feedback:
So for my ideas, I recognized that I don't need to do it with digital that is why I could decide to do this task 3 physically. Also I got suggestion for idea #4 and #5 to make the video, animation of the movement process as well. It sounds would be better, so I'll do it.
Week 11 :
General feedback:
For this week, we got some feedback for this final project and discussed how to improve it. I could see some artwork of them and got inspiration as well.
Specific feedback:
No feedback because I couldn't show my progress. I just prepared materials for this task though.
Week 12 :
General feedback:
We also got some feedback and discussed how to improve it. I could enjoy seeing some design for this task as well.
Specific feedback:
For my design, it's physical typeface so I can go through even if I got failed. I need to make process and experiment, then finally I can create the stuff which I can satisfied. So I can do this task with foam spray, change the material. But I need to make it as soon as possible because the submission is by next week.
Week 13 :
General feedback:
We got feedback and discussed how to improve our design as well. After the session, we got a brief explanation of composing final e-portfolio.
Specific feedback:
For my design, I was just told that I can explore it with shooting the some letters as well. Also I can make the poster design such as it for river pollution poster. I can go through what I decided to do for this project.
●Reflections
>Experience
For this experience, I tried to create some physical art stuff like using foam spray and candle. It's really exciting project to explore the style of expressing new typography. Also I just faced difficult situation such as the candle didn't burn for my mistake, but it was just good opportunity for me to get the art creation process. Although, it cost a lot..... After I finished the project, I just gave to my friend. They also got enjoyment of it. It showed a lots potential as well.
>Observations
I could learn that how to create and improve typography with some issues and potential in this project. Also for the art craft, I just learned again that I can improve it with getting the process even if it's mistake which was I didn't expect.
>Findings
I can only say that the string for the candle is only available with the specialized string for it.

Typography 13
特集「タイポグラフィ事典」
A "Typography Encyclopaedia" can be found in issue 13 of Typography, a biannual text design journal that was first published in 2012.
The 40 elements of handwriting, typefaces, and typography featured in this permanent edition are the first to be published in an encyclopedic format.
It has a section for beginners that introduces characters seen in daily life, such as those on street signs, train station signs, airport signs, and video game characters; a section for designers that summarizes knowledge on fonts and typography; an advanced section that discusses the newest trends in multilingual fonts and custom fonts; and a section for standard typefaces that lists 400 common fonts in Japanese and European languages. 400 common European and Japanese fonts are included in this sample edition. This is a helpful book that has all the character information and can be used frequently like a dictionary. This edition is larger than usual and has more pages.
Balance in Design
This book explores the "mathematical beauty"—such as proportion and composition—that is present in any excellent design.
The book shows the presence of "mathematical auxiliary lines" like the golden ratio and geometrical analysis in them, utilizing layers of translucent sheets, citing examples from Bauhaus posters and Le Corbusier's architecture.
Although it is commonly believed that design is a "sensory thing," the book demonstrates in an approachable manner that this is not the case by utilizing some of the most well-known designs in history as examples.
Before looking for "eye-catching design," "creative design," or "unique design," it is crucial to understand the fundamentals of beauty.
Change by design
Instead than discussing design methods, this book is about "design thinking."
Head of the renowned design firm IDEO, Tim Brown, is the book's author.
We frequently equate "design" with "visual deliverables," but "design thinking" can actually lead to various innovations, such as solutions to organizational and interpersonal issues in a business. a mode of thinking that deviates from conventional "design" by asking "What?" rather than "Why?" It demonstrates the need of having a mindset that asks, "Why?
The book is largely devoid of specific instances as it mostly concentrates on ideas and concepts. If you read The Art of Innovation, which also discusses IDEO, together with this book, it will be simpler for you to understand the picture.
