●Instructions
●Project 1
Week 1 (30/08/2022):
1. Use your phone, record a verbal memory(Mother tongue is welcome, let your memory to decide the language to speak): Think of a memory that you remember vividly. It should be a memory that comes easily to you.
Imagine that your are telling your memory to someone that you know. Can you make them feel the emotion?(Upload to google drive, post in Blog under Project 1)
2. Write in Blog(Project 1): Why do you think you remember this so well? Try connecting one or more emotions to this memory.
I don't remember when, but I almost couldn't come out of the dream.
I spent time in a dark, rainbow-coloured or mysterious space, wondering what shape, color and smell I was, and whether I was me or not.
Halfway through, I realize that this is a dream.
But I don't know how to wake up or get out of the dream, so I'm back to square one.
When I woke up, poof, I was embarrassed, but I smelled delicious and felt strangely happy.
It's a vivid and strange memory for me, being able to be myself, eating delicious food, I just felt happy about it all.
-Why did I remember this memory vivirly?
It was the most unconvincing or somewhat fluffy dream I've ever had. It's strange that I can remember it even though it was such an uncertain and ambiguous dream. Somehow, it was a dream that seemed to be a chance for me to look back at my origins.
It is an important memory for me because I feel that memories of real experiences, not to mention playing and making memories, are natural, and unrealistic memories like this are not so common.
Week 2-5 (07/09/2022-27/09/2022) : Idea development
Submit the file FSC0822 ideation under google drive’s project 1 folder.
Working title: Self-Identification

“I'll tell you about a dream I had one day. I don't remember when, but I almost couldn't come out of the dream. I spent time in a dark, rainbow-coloured or mysterious space, wondering what shape, color and smell I was, and whether I was me or not. Halfway through, I realize that this is a dream. It's a vivid and strange memory for me, being able to be myself, eating delicious food, I just felt happy about it all.”
This story is based on a dream memory I saw. Starting from A girl trying to recognize herself with some question/doubt, she enjoys the unreality and wonder place. A lot of time has passed since then. She noticed that she realized this is the dream and forgot how to wake up and leave the dream. And then she does this again and again. When she got up, she just felt herself and happiness.
Abstract IMAGE:

“It was the most unconvincing or somewhat fluffy dream I've ever had. It's strange that I can remember it even though it was such an uncertain and ambiguous dream. Somehow, it was a dream that seemed to be a chance for me to look back at my origins. It is an important memory for me because I feel that memories of real experiences, not to mention playing and making memories, are natural, and unrealistic memories like this are not so common.”
For the feeling/emotion, she can feel Curiosity(Anticipation), Delight(Joy), Panic(Fear) and Admiration(Trust) to know/notice herself.
What does that experience mean to you? Now that you look back, what is your revelation/epiphany/insight on that experience?
The experience means that I can feel about myself and how to feel happiness.

2 sketches Character (with description)
For this character shows that curious about herself and stuff which is mysterious. That is why drawn simple line style to express clearly.
The key moment of the memory (character in her/his world)
For transforming scenes, each of them is 1sec, so there are a lot of mysterious things in a dream. Starting from a simple shape, it's gonna be changing the face with many eyes that show she cannot recognize herself within the correct shape of face. After changing the shape, it also transforms into another shape which is kind of sharp and then the leg and arm are coming out to express the color and shape.
Continuing the transformation, the next one is her body, it’s not the correct color as well to express the dream.
There is kind of smoke, liquid stuff to express the smell part. And then when she shows up, it expresses that she is trying to understand herself.
Finally, she goes into the hole to try to escape from her dream, but it’s played again.
For the background, these are selected to express the mysterious world. There are some pictures though it’s gonna be more psychedelic style. Also there is the background with line art and the gradation.
Concept statement:
The story of the dream she cannot escape from
the dream she can escape from reality

Experience :
I could learn that how to put the process of creating animation with ideation development and so on. For recording my memory part, I could enjoy remembering about my particular dream for animation, it's kind of interesting for me to create visible in the way of art, concept art.
Observation :
From this experience, I could get the inspiration of art style such as perspective drawing, turnaround drawing and so on especially from Pinterest in order to decide the art style for the animation. In particular, for the animation by Satoshi Kon, is really fantastic and beautiful expression of drawing in animation, I wondered that I wanna do it like these if I can get the skills of drawing well. But in same time, I just realized that I need more practice of drawing in order to express more and more.
Findings :
I just noticed that it was kind of difficult to express the dream scene which is different between mine and others that is why also I need to figure out what is dream and dream meanings. For my dream, sometimes go slowly but the others doesn't, so I mean that it's hard, depends on how to see the dream from each person.

Dream analysis by professional counsellors The art of listening to the voice of the heart.
The author is a professional counsellor and has a very good ability to read people's psychology.
The author has also studied the principles of dreaming in depth, so the book contains many examples and is easy to understand and carefully explained. The book describes the mechanisms of dreaming in detail, so it is a substantial book for those who want to study psychology and learn about the depths of the human psyche.
Whether or not you believe in dream reading, the book is interesting enough to be used as a book.
Do-it-yourself dream analysis written by a professional counsellor Messages from Higher Self.
This book is suitable for those who want to deepen their understanding of dream analysis.
It is written by a professional counsellor, and because dream analysis is carried out from a psychological aspect, it is no longer confined to the category of fortune-telling, but I felt that the results of the analysis were rational and convincing.
The book also contains easy-to-understand explanations and detailed procedures so that even beginners can pick up the book and analyse it on their own.
Dreams usually have some meaning because we see them unconsciously...
It is a good book that makes you think that the opportunity to turn your life around is right beside you.
Paprika (2006).
Japanese animation depicting the activities of Paprika, who enters people's dreams.
Based on the novel of the same name by Yasutaka Tsutsui, the feature-length animated film Paprika was directed by Satoshi Kon, who gained critical acclaim for such films as Millennium Actress. The film was much talked about for its unique animation imagery and stunning depiction of a dream world.
The film depicts the defence of the heroine, Atsuko Chiba, or Paprika, against a criminal who misuses a special device that allows her to share dreams with others. Paprika was voiced by Megumi Hayashibara, an immensely popular voice in the animation world. The film has won numerous awards at national and international film festivals, including the 35th Montreal New Cinema Festival.
I was dizzy with the extremely colourful and mysterious pictures and the crazy, unintelligible dialogue. Even knowing the provocative, socially and humanly insane style of the author of the original work, Yasutaka Tsutsui, I was stunned by the images and the floating music. Like the original author, I wonder what the hell is going on in the mind of director Satoshi Kon, who made this film? (compliment). There are plenty of stories about entering other people's dreams or depicting virtual worlds, but I think this film stands out in the sense that it is a crazy film that makes the most of the strengths of animation, which is impossible to achieve. Even if there are a lot of difficult and unintelligible scenes, anything is possible if it is a dream. There is no back and forth in time, such as past or future, no physical or spatial constraints such as the size of objects or the perspective of distance, and even if things don't add up, it's understandable if you think of it as a dream. Desires that cannot be fulfilled in the real world are projected into the dream, and several people's dreams intersect. Eventually, the boundary between reality and dreams collapses, and the dreams erode reality. I liked the strange view of the world. The dream you can't get out of might be called a labyrinth. It was interesting, but I guess it's a love it or hate it kind of thing...
Alice in Wonderland (1953).
Disney animation about the adventures of a young girl lost in a strange land.
Animated film produced by Walt Disney Productions, based on the children's novel Alice in Wonderland by British author Lewis Carroll.
It is a bored mid-afternoon. Alice sees a white rabbit in a waistcoat and while chasing it, she falls down a deep hole.
There she finds a strange world. Alice's body expands and contracts, she meets the Cheshire Cat, the Mad Hatter and other strange characters, and she celebrates "a day that is not her birthday". In the course of these surreal adventures, Alice offends the tyrant Queen of Hearts. ......
The quirky characters that appear one after the other brighten up this strange and crazy Wonderland, which is out of the ordinary in every corner of the world. What will happen to Alice? A film for adults too!
