Collaborative Design Practice : Task 3 / Produce rapid prototypes, test and iterative designs
24/04/2023 - 12/05/2023 / Week 04 - Week 06
- Week 5
After we discussed about the parts, we just start to prepare the materials and create some parts for the design which is after the prototype as well. For me, I tried to create wave part and reef part with some materials which is kind of rubbish as the prototype.

Timeline
- Week 5
This week, we continue with creating part by part and show each progress and discuss about it. For me, I start creating the wave part and reef part with blister pack and plastic rubbish. Here's the pictures for the progress of creating the prototype.
Feedback
For this week, honestly I got misunderstanding for creating some part as final product, but also I tried to catch up with preparing some parts for prototype design.
It was kind of fun for me to think about how to prepare the materials with creating three dimensional design as well.
Next course of action
We just realized we took wrong way to do prototype, so we're gonna think about the design and start with creating the prototype design again.
- Week 6
For this week, we re-think about the design for this project after getting the feedback and continue with new idea for prototype.
After we create the prototype, we also did the presentation for this task 3.

Feedback
It was kind of difficult for us to catch up with creating the prototype design, but also we enjoyed making it with some conversation.
Actually we got the feedback for trying change the focus point for the project with using the materials, only blister packs. After we finished creating the prototype design, we also did the presentation to explain what it is.
Next course of action
We are starting create the final product for this project with some discussion.

●Reflections
Experience :
The prototype provided a hands-on experience of dealing with garbage with blister packs. It may have helped you gain a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities associated with managing this type of waste.
Observation :
It's possible that the prototype revealed some design or usability issues that may need to be addressed before the final product can be developed.
You may have observed how users interacted with the prototype and identified areas for improvement or further development.
You may have also observed any challenges or limitations of the current prototype, such as the materials used or the functionality of the prototype.
Findings:
Based on the experience and observations, you may have identified some key findings that can inform the next steps in the project.
For example, you may have found that users struggle with separating blister packs from other types of waste, or that there is a lack of infrastructure to support proper disposal of these items.
These findings can help guide the development of the final product, as well as any outreach or education efforts to encourage proper disposal of blister packs.

Better Than Shin-Pin: The Story of Recycling for Children, by Robert Broder.
This is the first picture book by the outdoor brand Patagonia. Through the story of a sea lion entangled in an abandoned fishing net and the children of Chile, the book tells about the dangers of marine pollution and the appeal of recycling. At the end of the book, data on marine pollution is included. The book is made of 100% recycled paper, which is recycled from used paper. The book allows readers to confront global environmental issues not only through its contents but also through the picture book itself. After reading the book, it is a good opportunity to discuss what is "much better than Shin-Pin" for you.
On the Beach 2," by Yogan Lehl.
This book is written by designer Yogan Lehl, who has lived in Japan for over 40 years since arriving here in 1971, and in 2006 launched the "Babaghuri" brand, which focuses on natural materials and handicrafts. The author's "last job" was a project to make lampshades from trash found on the beach. On the Beach 1," a compilation of this project, is sold out and unavailable, but in "On the Beach 2," flip flops rotting on the beach are compiled like specimens.
Plastic Reality and Ideas for the Future
It has been about 70 years since plastics were mass-produced and began to spread throughout society.
While it has brought great convenience and benefits to mankind, the material's properties of being insoluble in water and non-corrosive have had disastrous effects on the ecosystem.
In recent years, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) has identified plastic pollution, including "plastic soup," as the biggest crisis facing the world.
In this book, we shed light on the current state of plastics and propose ideas for realizing a post-plastic world that should be promoted in the future.
